CSW Students Earn National Recognition

Two teams of Charter School of Wilmington students won $11,000 in Samsung products for the school this December and have the potential to win even more. The Samsung challenge is an annual competition hosted by Samsung where students focus on innovating STEM solutions and embrace their roles as the problem solvers of the future.

One team, moderated by Mr. Patrick Liberato, aimed to combat local water quality concerns in Delaware. As a result of their hard work, they are one of 100 semi-finalists in the nation, winning $10,000 as the only team in Delaware to earn this honor. They now advance to the second round, where they will compete for a chance to attend the national finals in Washington, D.C and win up to $100,000.

Another group of CSW students also competed and placed among the Top 400 teams in the nation, earning the title of “Promising STEM Innovation.” Through their accomplishment, students earned $1000 of Samsung products for CSW this school year.

The school’s consistent success in the Samsung Challenge is amazing and brings valuable technology resources to its classrooms. Not only does this competition portray the creativity of students, but it demonstrates how students at CSW develop innovative solutions to real-world problems. Hopefully, CSW can continue to build this momentum and inspire its students to innovate and improve their communities in the future.
