On Tuesday, ALI Technologies released pre-sales for a 77.7 million yen ($684,000) hoverbike.
This limited edition hoverbike can fly for at least 40 minutes at speeds of up to 62 mph and is equipped with a standard engine and four battery-powered motors.
It will be available in red and black, with a body shaped like a motorbike on top of propellers.
When inactive, it will rest on a stand similar to a helipad.
It is marketed towards individuals who are interested in alternative methods of transportation, and Katano hopes that his creation can be used by emergency responders in rough terrain.
Even though its use is currently prohibited on Japan’s packed roads, government officials are considering changes that could potentially expand the uses of this method of transportation.
At a racetrack near Mount Fuji, influential figures in industry Mitsubishi Electric and Kyocera showcased the hoverbike by undergoing a short flight.

The hoverbikes are expected to ship by the first half of 2022 and are likely to satisfy numerous supercar enthusiasts.
This commercial success for ALI Technologies supports the strengthening of the industrial edge of Japan towards futuristic technology.
