Afterthought

a thunderstorm echoing far away

rain clouds coalescing above

in this dreaming forest everything burns

onto the brush of a smoldered fire

droplets fall to golden leaves with languor

calling the garden snakes to rise

into this delicate forest clearing

growing something more transient

feel the mist like a strange feeling

sitting under that bundle of sticks

wait for the old junebugs to live again

all the wilderness whispering

i saw the flash on a limb of a tree

even held a moment in my palms

open up your bloodied throat

tell me– enough, i know you’re here
